Led by President Gary Levine, the visionary creator of the nation's only two multi-person themed memorial reefs pioneering artificial reefs that integrates cremated remains into an underwater columbarium-like structure to support marine life.
Reef Builders International's current endeavor is the Poseidon Memorial Reef, offshore of Henderson Beach in Destin, Florida, in the Northeast Corner of Fish Haven #22 permitted by the Army Corps of Engineers for Okaloosa County, Florida.
This project represents a generational advancement in memorial design through its Ecologically Designed Habitats. Beyond providing a permanent, serene resting place for loved ones, the reef is purposefully engineered to create refuge habitat offering shelter from predators and fostering rapid vibrant marine growth and a sustainable marine environment.
Ocean Legacies serves as the post-cremation service company and Master Marketer for the Poseidon Memorial Reef, bringing these unique ocean memorials to the public. We focus on promoting “Reverence, Recognition, and Respect” while delivering exceptional value in “Green Thinking” memorial solutions and environmentally conscious alternatives that honor life, support ecosystems, and provide families with lasting peace.

Destin offers a vibrant community with abundant lodging, world-famous beaches, and top-tier fishing/boating opportunities, and fantastic dining while allowing families to gather and return the memorials into ongoing celebrations of life. The choice was after consultations with Okaloosa County's artificial reef program representatives, and the county's strong support, including all approvals necessary. This combination proved superior to other Florida options, enhancing both the memorial experience and marine habitat benefits where the breathtaking Emerald Coast scenery that makes Destin such a fitting, welcoming home for every legacy.
